May the Best Idea Win

It’s all about the “crowd” at Cambrian House - wisdom of crowds (such as comments, feedback and filtering of ideas) and participation of crowds (such as finding the perfect team of people to help launch an idea into reality).

IdeaWarz is one of the ways we use “wisdom of crowds” that allows the community to determine the best business ideas.

How it works

1. Submit an idea

At no cost to you the Cambrian House community can help realize your ideas. Don't believe it? Check out previous winners and the businesses already underway.

Submit your idea to receive community vetting, and hook up with others keen on implementing it.

2. The Community Decides

Have your say by voting on ideas and lending your brilliance by posting comments and feedback. Community members vote 1 to 5 stars for each idea (there is no zero star rating) and the idea with the highest number of points at the end of the voting period is determined the winner.

1 – 2 Star(s) equals a ‘down’ vote… Points are subtracted from the idea for not being clear, not being innovative, or not quite having the “magic touch.” a one or two star, that's a down vote which subtracts points.

3, 4 and 5 Stars equals an ‘up’ vote, adding points to the idea for being innovative, creative and totally saleable. If you’d buy it or invest in it, give it a higher ranking.

Comments: Be sure to read comments members leave for you... they just might give you the one tip or trick your idea needed to make it to the top. It is best to respond to questions about your idea quickly, as an unanswered question will probably result in a less favorable vote.

***please note: We like to keep the voting simple. However, if we notice funky voting patterns, we will intervene.***

Increase your chances of winning

  1. Upload an image relating to your idea- pictures say a thousand words, and can serve as an awesome promo for your idea, or even yourself!
  2. Complete your elevator pitch- elevator pitches have been a mainstay in the biz world for a good reason: they explain your idea in an energetic, yet concise manner. Want the crowd to vote for you? They better understand your vision.
  3. Promote your idea to the world- share your idea on Facebook, your other fav sites, or e-mail your friends. From the My Ideas page, browse to your idea and click the ‘promote this idea’ link.
  4. Keep an eye on your idea during the week, people will be posting comments and asking you questions. The more you engage them in conversation, the more invested they become, and the more polished your idea gets.

Submit your idea and see what the crowd thinks.
May the best idea win!
